4 More Reasons To Hate York

here is the first 7" vinyl record that Blag XIII appeared on...this was a 4 way split put out by local D.I.Y. label N.O.L.O. Records....the label was started by the bassist from Eden Park and the singer from my band, Blag 13...the four bands appearing on this split were all friends, played countless shows together, and supported each other the way a real underground music scene should...the styles vary from hardcore punk to metal to alternative/punk but regardless of each individuals personal taste in music we all banded together and worked towards the common good...N.O.L.O. stands for No One Likes Our Records...and like the album says, heres 4 more reasons not to
1. Blag XIII - Fashion Faction
2. Bullet - Agony
3. Fanboys - In The Backstage
4. Eden Park - Truck #9
whoa, look at this crew! these guys are obviously more punk than you...i personally think we should have been on the cover of Punk And Disorderly...hahaha...i heard that dude on the left is one bad muthafucka! ;)

Blag XIII - We're Killing Ourselves

heres another Blag 13 track that was recorded for a compilation that never saw the light of day...i like the way we mixed the sound clip at the beginning to flow right into the song...i've always been a fan of using movie clips or sound bytes from television shows as intros to kind of define the song and make it stand out...maybe thats why i like Blood Freak so much, they're pretty heavy on the horror movie intros, especially their first album 'Sleaze Merchants'...but anyway, i digress...check out 'We're Killing Ourselves' from York County's finest hardcore punk powerhouse circa 1997, Blag 13
we have the worst logo on that flyer, damn...haha, oh well, the show was kick ass...it was an honor to play with Flag Of Democracy and Kill Your Idols, both great punk bands

Blag XIII - Draft Beer, Not Me

come with me back in time...all the way back to the year 1997...the Green Bay Packers were Super Bowl Champions, The Baltimore Orioles finished 1st in the AL East, the very first season of South Park aired, i saw Event Horizon in the movie theater, i just graduated from high school and the world was mine to conquer, rule, and wreck...it was without a doubt one of the best years of my life...and a big part of the reason for that was because my punk rock band recorded an album, played a ton of shows, partied our asses off, and had a really great time at it...i gotta admit sometimes i miss those glory days of yesteryear but thanx to the miracle of cassette tapes and vinyl records, i have a few mementos to help me remember all the good times...this is a song by my old hardcore punk band, Blag 13...it was recorded in '97 to be part of some punk rock compilation that never got released, so this track has just sat on the shelf for quite a few years without anyone really ever getting a chance to hear it, outside of the band and our fans and friends that came to the shows....i dig this track, its one of my favorite Blag 13 songs because of how we trade off on vocals...Green Mike's got the first verse, Dik 13 on the second, yours truly, Brad Cancer, on the third, and then back to Dik again...it has a catchy shoutalong chorus that i like and i thought the whole premise was kinda clever....i didn't find out til much later that another hardcore band by the name of Belching Penguins, beat me to the punch and released an album way back in 1986 called 'Draft Beer...Not Me'...hell, what the fuck did i know?, i was 18 and full of angst and while i might have had a broad knowledge of the punk rock and hardcore music scene at that time, you couldn't expect me to know every band and album title ever!....i guess i can just chalk it up to great minds thinking alike, i was just 11 years too slow...anyway, go ahead and toss a couple back, check out this hardcore punk anthem, and start a circle pit in your living room! http://www.mediafire.com/?nwzyizdtnyt

Brian Posehn - Fart And Wiener Jokes

talk about bringing back the funny...nobody is more hilarious than metalhead/stand up comedian Brian Posehn...you probably know this guy from The Sarah Silverman Program or if you wanna go way back, the weird ogre looking dude that played the mail clerk on the t.v. series Just Shoot Me!...Posehn has also appeared in the motion picture, The Devil's Rejects, co-wrote a 5 issue comic book miniseries called 'The Last Christmas', supplied his voice to numerous cartoons including Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Metalocalypse, WordGirl, and Rob Zombie's animated film, 'The Haunted World Of El Superbeasto', hes done voice work for the video games Brutal Legend and Halo 2, and he also directed a music video for glam rock, parody metal band, Steel Panther...what can't this guy do? the only thing i can really think of is maybe winning a modeling competition...this album is a live stand up performance which includes two bonus tracks at the end where he does vocals over an allstar lineup of metal musicians, including Scott Ian of Anthrax...the first song is called 'More Metal Than You'...gotta love that title...and the second is a metal cover version of 'The Gambler', originally made popular by Kenny Rogers...if you're looking for something to make you laugh and aren't easily offended by dick jokes and crude pot humor, definitely check this shit out!
nice fucking shirt Posehn!! but check out the emo faggot on the left and then George Michael's illegitimate stepson on the right...what a couple of douchebags...haha...i guess you can't help who your fans are

Sabotage

ok time to bring back the funny...check out this video from youtube of the Beastie Boys song 'Sabotage'....some awesome dude took the video and changed the lyrics in the song to actually describe whats happening in the video...the way he methodically, step by step, explains the on screen action, while singing in tune with the music is really impressive, creative, and super fucking funny....i laughed my ass off, i bet you will too
also check out the videos for 'Total Eclipse Of The Heart', which was a 2010 Webby Award Honoree...and the Meatloaf song, 'Anything For Love', those are two really bizarre videos that go great with sing along commentary

Psywarfare Vs. Integrity

if you don't believe me on how crazy Psywarfare really is, check out this split 7" picture disc with Integrity that was released in 1996 on Victory Records...i was lucky enough to buy this shit when it came out, because now its long out of print, not to mention the cool artwork and basically its just a badass pic disc to add to any collection....what makes this record the most unique and intriguing though is the warning sticker that came on it, advising the listener to not play the Psywarfare side at 78 rpms around epileptics and pets, as it might cause them to totally seize out and lose their shit!...once i read that label in the record store i knew this was absolutely, without a doubt, something i had to have....heed the warning, i don't have a dog but my pet rock straight fell off the table when i blasted this auditory crippling insanity

Psywarfare - Circle Gets The Square

do you like noise? do you like droning out to the mechanical sounds, fuzzy loops, distortion, static overdrive, and sonic chaos that makes up a good noise album....if so, you are not alone and let me tell you this little cd here has gotta be one of the best noise recordings i've personally ever heard...yeah a lot of people talk about Merzbow and Masonna being the gods of noise...and yeah i get it, they're really good and maybe in Japan they're the best, but i think the most overlooked muthafucka on the scene these days is the mighty Dwid Hellion, vocalist for hardcore legends, Integrity, and experimental noise artist extraordinaire...hes done stuff with the harsh power electronics outfit, Lockweld, but this is his own solo album...and i fucking love everything about this record...throw on some headphones and crank it up to get the full experience...theres so many things going on at one time on this album that it takes a few spins to fully comprehend all the little nuances and details that make this venture into the realm of discordant musical expression, slightly above anything else thats out there right now...i must warn you...he didn't name this project Psywarfare for nuthin...this is not for the weak minded or easily frightened, as it could possibly drive you insane and cause you to end up in the "Rubber Room", a track title from this revolutionary noise record

Throwing Raw Meat At Earth Crisis : Part 2

as promised i bring to you the second installment in the battle of the vegans vs. the 'vores (thats slang for carnivores...its a new thing im tryin to get going...spread the word) this band has absolutely no problem eating meat, in fact they don't even give a fuck where it comes from...as far as they're concerned, YOU could be their next meal!...im talking about the death metal savagery that is Bone Gnawer...these guys are cannibals with a capital C for carnage and they're ready to spill some blood and shred your face off with razorsharp guitars and heavy bloodsoaked breakdowns that make you wanna sing along with this ode to human consumption...Henry David Thoreau must be rolling over in his grave at the thought...check out 'Cannibal Cook-out' by Bone Gnawer

Throwing Raw Meat At Earth Crisis : Part 1

so this has always been a big debate among people, whether its right to eat meat or not...there are many who say that its much healthier to stick to vegetables and soybeans than it is to grub down on some barbecued ribs and cheeseburgers...i myself have always been quite carnivorous by nature and don't think that i would ever get to the point that i could eliminate meat from my diet...but i understand the other sides point of view too....so here i present to you, both sides of the "meat is murder" coin and you can be the judge for yourself....first off we have one of the best rap songs i've ever heard, from, believe it or not...Millions Of Dead Cops...M.D.C. aren't usually known for their rap stylings but they really break it down in this particular song and i mean these dudes are droppin some beats and droppin some serious knowledge at the same time! even if you don't agree with the message, you have to appreciate the rhythm and flow and intelligence of this song...not bad for a punk rock band from Portland...heres Millions Of Dead Cops with 'Real Food, Real People, Real Bullets'
if you're wondering what the title of this post is all about...i had a friend that did that once, actually went to an Earth Crisis show and threw a bunch of raw ground beef at them while they were on stage...i don't think they liked that too much...but its a great story, god rest his soul...no, he didn't get killed by a gang of straightedge hardcore thugs or anything...he died much later, totally unrelated...but what a fucking awesome guy!!!

Bigfoot Lives!

like i said, i listen to Stern cause its the greatest radio show in the history of planet earth, and the reason why is because of clips like this...Howard had a porn star on the show recently named Little Lupe...so Richard and Sal (the masters of prank calls) take the audio from parts of her interview and they use it to call a frequent guest of the show named Bigfoot...they get Bigfoot to have phone sex with this audio clipped Little Lupe chick and he actually fucking finishes himself off and everything, while talking crazy ass shit the whole time....i know it sounds kinda gross, but if you know Bigfoot and the way he talks then you can imagine the possibility for funniness....and let me tell you, this shit is fucking great..."I'll fuck you like a wild laminal, it is" hahaha!

Auto Tune Intervention

so im a huge Howard Stern fan and as i was listening to the show the other day, he played a clip of a man crying because he wasn't there for his son his whole life, and it came from a show called Intervention...but someone had the ingenious idea to take this emotional, dramatic scene and auto tune the hell outta this muthafucka...this is some seriously funny shit! the whole auto tune thing really amuses me, it seems like anything i hear with that electronic warble just cracks me the fuck up....Howard sometimes sings and runs his voice through the auto tuner and i nearly die every time...fucking great stuff....watch this...

Revolting - The Terror Threshold

so i mentioned in an earlier post that Zombified were the new kings of Swedish death metal, if that is true then Revolting are the evil warlords of the Swedish death metal realm of sickness and horror...this new cd entitled 'The Terror Threshold' is truly a terrifying, traumatic, throat slicing, thrashterpiece of an album...ok, maybe i overdid it a little bit on the alliteration there for a second but seriously...if you like death metal, and you have ears, you will love this record...it makes me happy to see great underground labels like Razorback Records, continue to put out quality releases time after time, while some of the 'bigger' metal labels such as Relapse are signing these obscure, unknown acts and trying to stay 'cutting edge' which really means shitty and trendy...i mean, come on Relapse!...Mose Giganticus?? who the fuck are they? mose isn't even a word! what the hell? i did some research and found out they had released two albums prior to this new signing by Relapse...i listened to both albums in horrific disbelief...is this the same band that Relapse has just signed to their once infamous underground grindcore/metal label? the vocals sounded like if T-Pain and Tommy Victor from Prong somehow had a mysterious interracial butt baby and he grew up listening to The Cars and Ministry...needless to say, its awful...but i will give them this...they are from Philadelphia, so they get a point right there, and i am kinda digging on their new single that has been released called 'The Left Path' i still don't think they sound like a typical Relapse band but it is a good song and a vast improvement over the two prior albums i heard by them...maybe they've changed their style with this new record...we can only hope...i guess i should also give them props for going on tour with a bus that runs solely on vegetable oil...kinda sounds like some hippy shit to me, haha, but i get it...trying to save the earth for the next generation of human scum...whatev....damn......wasn't i talking about Revolting earlier? well i guess you're getting two posts for the price of one today...grab this death metal masterpiece by Revolting now! and check out the new single from the upcoming Mose Giganticus album out on July 20th on Relapse Records http://www.mediafire.com/file/ywl25muwhdf/Revolting%20-The%20Terror%20Threshold%20(2010).zip http://decibelmagazine.com/Content.aspx?ncid=366277

Macabre

i heard these guys are working on a new album to be released sometime this year entitled 'Grim Scary Tales'...i can't wait to hear some more Murder Metal from these legendary serial killer song smiths...heres their classic concept album, Dahmer....i wonder if there are gonna be any songs on the new album about the VT massacre? i was watching the news after it happened and i immediately thought, "well there ya go, Macabre's got a whole lotta new material to work with now"....that might sound a bit crass, but i look at it like this...of course it was a tragedy but whats done is done and it can't be changed, so the best thing to do is to try and look for something positive to come out of this disaster....like a new Macabre album! long live Murder Metal!   http://www.mediafire.com/?zxznomzlowd

Criminal Element

here we have a kick ass super group of metal musicians playing a mix of death metal and hardcore with lyrics generally based upon the ugly, scum ridden, underbelly of society...Crime And Punishment is 5 tracks of criminally talented individuals coming together to create a sinister crime scene more bloody and brutal than anything you'll ever see on CSI : New York...with current and ex members of bands such as Dying Fetus, Suffocation, Misery Index, Decrepit Birth, Pyrexia, Sadistic Intent and Catastrophic, how could this not be a killer record?

Richard McBeef

wanna know what the area i live in is most famous for? its not some fancy restaurant, historical landmark, or celebrity hometown....how about the worst mass shooting in U.S. history...thats right, 3 years ago on this day, 32 people were killed and others injured in what would become known as the Virginia Tech Massacre...Seung-Hui Cho, a mentally ill English major at Virginia Tech Institute in Blacksburg, VA opened fire on teachers and students killing 32 people before taking his own life...i remember when this shit happened and it was fucking insane...the guy had some serious mental issues as you can tell by reading the 'manifesto' he sent to NBC news the day of the massacre...
i started reading up about this guy because i was interested in what exactly motivates someone to actually go out and murder people indiscriminately...what i've concluded is that this dude was nuttier than squirrel turds and more unstable than a roller coaster full of plutonium...just check out this play that he wrote for his English class entitled, Richard McBeef...the story is about a 13 year old boy who accuses his stepfather of pedophilia and murdering his father...the teenager talks of killing the older man and at one point the mother brandishes a chainsaw at the stepfather...it ends with the man striking a fatal blow to the boy...im telling you, this is some seriously fucked up shit...
and one last bit of weirdness about this homicidal suicidal psychopath...the mass murderer spent $21.50 in February of 2006 on two Ebay auctions for....get this....three dozen small squeaking toy ducks and one giant rubber ducky....WTF?!...i don't know what he needed these ducks for, maybe he was just trying to make bath time a little more fun...who the fuck knows? but whatever the case, its easy to see that this guy was a highly disturbed individual that destroyed the lives of a lot of innocent people and if there is a hell, i like to think this mutherfuker is gettin gang raped by Hitler, Hussein, and a demonic John Wayne

Freddy Krueger's Underwear

on the subject of Nightmare On Elm Street i felt like i had to mention one of my favorite thrash metal bands on the scene these days...F.K.U. these guys bring the mosh like its nobodys business...horror obsessed and metally possessed, these Swedish moshaholics thrash their way through 17 tracks of neck breaking riffs and sing along choruses paying tribute to all the classic horror icons (Freddy, Leatherface, Jason, Frank Zito, Pinhead, Michael Myers) this album even comes with a 10 page F.K.U. comic book! how fucking cool is that?! "its not heaven, its not hell, this is it, Where Moshers Dwell!"

Nothing New Under The Sun

ok, so i heard about this remake of the classic Nightmare On Elm Street movie...hollywood has officially run out of ideas...i watched the trailer for this monstrosity and i almost vomited...they've replaced Robert Englund! how in the fuck can you do that?! not even a cameo by him or anything...obviously the bastards behind this project are just trying to cash in on a classic horror series made famous by Wes Craven and Robert Englund...its all about the money to these assholes so i urge everyone to boycott this piece of shit, wannabe, second rate Freddy imposter flick and not even give this movie any recognition whatsoever...they have no respect for the hard work that the original creators put into the masterpiece that is the original Nightmare On Elm Street, so i have no respect for them...the old saying goes, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"...i hope these fools lose money on making this trash and learn that true horror fans won't put up with this lame, greed fueled, knockoff of a classic film

We're Not Punks But We Play Them On T.V.

anyone else out there having a shitty life or is it just me? i find that when im in a bad mood or really pissed off at the world, a healthy dose of hardcore punk rock is just what i need to help alleviate stress and put things back into perspective...im going back to my roots on this one...this album came out in 1993 and i must say it is one of my favorite punk rock records of all time...no bullshit...i've probably listened to it a billion times in the past 17 years and regardless of the mood i was in before i hit play, i always feel better afterwards...the lyrics are what make this album stand out for me i think...don't get me wrong, the music is great too but the lyrics are really something i can relate to and identify with...in fact this record has what i've dubbed my own personal theme song, 'I Hate Stupid People'...these guys have a real sense of humor and sometimes its good to be reminded not to take things too seriously....so if you're having a bad day, a bad week, or in my case, a bad life, then go ahead and download this album and let the Quincy Punx do the talking for ya...Eat A Bowl Of Fuck!!!

The Decapitated Midgets

another album already from these Finnish goregrind berzerkers?! yes its true, a new full length studio album has been released, but there is a catch...ten of the tracks are rerecorded songs from 'Gurgling Olympics' and a few of the other tracks are rerecorded songs from their live record, 'Shithole Live'....with that being said, although you're not getting a lot of brand new material from this band, you are getting one hell of a fucking goregrind album! the production and overall sound quality of this recording is great and im really glad they decided to release these tracks with the proper mixing and mastering...people looking for deep lyrical content in their music won't find it here, as most of the vocals are yells, screams, grunts, gurgles, and growls...but i say fuck it! the music blasts and grooves in all the right places and besides, theres already enough bands out there with a 'message'...so heres my message to you - pick up 'Shit Ceremony' and party til you poop, muthafuckas!
p.s. anyone who knows where this band gets their name from, will win a special useless goregrind trivia award to be handed out on Feb. 31 of next year at the International Grindcore Underground Artists Network Awards (or the I.G.U.A.N.A.'s)...i'll post the answer later, as if you really care

Spoonful Of Vicodin

i was able to track down a copy of the first pressing of this badass 7 inch by New York powerviolence pill poppers, Spoonful Of Vicodin...this record was produced by the hardest workin, heaviest tokin, bassist in metal, my hero, Danny Lilker...this band plays some pissed off powerviolence with great song titles and funny lyrics that are short and to the point...they get their message across loud and clear and usually under 60 seconds...i especially like 'My Idea Of Anarchy Is Taking A Dump On Company Time' and the hippie bashing anthem, 'You Smell Like A Bag of Rotting Dicks'...i think the first pressing of this album is sold out now but i heard the band is repressing it with a different color cover, so you might wanna get your hands on this kickass slab o' wax...my order came with a patch and two stickers as a bonus so naturally i was pretty stoked...one of the stickers is their logo and the other is the funniest picture of what i believe to be Cab Calloway (the old black dude that sang Minnie The Moocher), with his mouth wide open, about to receive a large spoonful of a white powdery looking substance i can only assume to be crushed up vicodin...hahaha...i got my eye on this band, im lookin forward to hearing some more drug fueled powerviolence from these grindfiends

A Flat Tire On The Fourth Of July

this is a kind of Bukowski inspired diatribe that i wrote based on my own personal experiences and observations...its called

A Flat Tire On The Fourth Of July

its not the major tragic events in life
that drive someone to decide to call it quits and cash in their chips
its the little things
the constant petty annoyances
and daily blunders
the consistent stream of accidents
and mishaps
that slowly eat away at the soul
and poison a persons perspective
like a galactic practical joke called life
and the punchline is
eventually everybody punches out
a flat tire on the fourth of July
gum on the bottom of your shoe
expired tags
the package you ordered never arrives
toothaches, headaches, backaches
no brakes on the way to work
no work
on the way to the poorhouse
a hole in your favorite t shirt
your last guitar string breaks
on the first note
of the first song
and you're the first band on stage
the aggravation builds up inside
and without a way to relieve the tension
the hope for tomorrow dies

My Favorite Black Metal Band Is Living Colour

okay by this point in human evolution i think we all know that black metal is a joke...it had its moment in the sun (or should i say moonlight?) but that time has long since past and anyone whose trying to carry on the retarded tradition of facepaint and frollicking in the forest while fingertapping their fretboards, should in my opinion, be fed to the fishes...despite the lack of credibility as a viable musical genre, black metal is good for one thing, and thats comic relief...whether its a band photo of middle age men in makeup posing like wwe wrestlers, or a video of leather clad losers running around in the snow grimacing like they haven't shit since the Reagan administration, black metal is always there for me when i need a good chuckle...if you haven't heard the recording of this prank call, i highly recommend checking it out...its a black guy calling a white guy about his ad in the paper to start a black metal band...super fucking hilarious!
your records ain't evil Joe, I's evil!

Spineless Fuckers

more grindcore insanity from the Czech Republic...what can i say about this record? to try to describe it in words would be like trying to explain to a blind person what the color red looks like...its just something you have to see or rather, hear for yourself....blasting drums, shredding guitars, sick vocals, and...cello solos? trombones? was that a triangle i heard? yeah, on paper this album sounds like a complete and total trainwreck but once you give this twisted record a spin i think you will be amazed at how they make all those 'strange' and uniquely uncommon sounds fit together to create something entirely original...this is some crazy ass grindcore with a style all its own and i like it

Survival Of The Dead

i've been on a big zombie kick lately so i feel like i gotta mention this awesome new movie by horror legend and hardcore zombie enthusiast George A. Romero...of course everyone is familiar with Night Of The Living Dead, Return of, Dawn of, etc. etc....this is the newest in a long line of kickass zombie horror masterpieces written and directed by the living legend of the undead...check out, Survival Of The Dead
this movie is great, Romero delivers once again...you would think after making so many zombie flicks that he would start to run out of ideas or repeat himself a lot...this is not the case at all...this movie has some of the most creative ways of killing those pesky undead bastards that i've ever seen...i don't wanna spoil anything for anyone so all i gotta say is...fire extinguisher....watch the movie and you'll know what i mean....BRAAAAIIIIINNNNSSSS!!!!!

Zombified Slaughtermachine

heres a band that is relatively unknown, but i have a feeling all that is going to change very soon...ladies and gentlemen, i present to you the new kings of Swedish death metal, ZOMBIFIED!!! this album is ten tracks of pure headbanging, groove laden, filthy, grimey, fist pumping, zombie blasting death metal...the songs are so fucking catchy and brutal, i can't stop listening...and the artwork, my god...its incredible...i've had the cover for this album as my desktop wallpaper for nearly a week now and for me thats a pretty long time to keep the same desktop background...i can't say enough good things about this release...and thanks to a fuck up at the pressing plant, you can get this cd for the ultra low price of $7.00 postage paid in the U.S. the album was pressed onto cd-rs instead of cds, but that doesn't change the quality of the music or the awesomeness of this band...buy it now and surrender yourself to the Slaughtermachine!
